Sean O'Neil

SeanTrustee Sean O'Neil was appointed to the Lyon Township Board of Trustees in December of 2013.  Sean was elected in 2014 to serve a partial term, and he was re-elected in 2016 for a full-term.  Prior to becoming Trustee, Sean served as a Lyon Township Planning Commissioner from November of 2006 until his appointment to the Board.  He served as Chair of the Planning Commission from January of 2010 until December of 2013.  He also served as the Township Board Liaison to the Planning Commission from December 2013 through December 2014.

Sean is an Urban Planner and has worked for White Lake Township since 2003.  He has served as the White Lake Township Planning Director since 2007.  Sean is a member of the State of Michigan Construction Code Commission where he has served as the general public appointee since 2005.  He is a member of the Michigan Economic Developers Assocation, the Michigan Association of Planning, the American Planning Assocation, and has been certified as a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) since 2004.  Sean holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Urban & Regional Planning from Michigan State University.

At home, Sean is involved as a volunteer with the South Lyon Junior League (a local youth baseball and softball league) as a board member and a coach since 2010.  He also volunteers with a non-profit organization called Winning Futures where he is a mentor to high school students.  Sean and his wife Stephanie (an elementary teacher for South Lyon Community Schools) have three wonderful children and are proud to call Lyon Township their home.
