Fire Department

The Lyon Township Fire Department is organized and operated for the people of Lyon Township for the purpose of fire control, fire prevention, and any emergency service that the Department is equipped to provide.

Ken Van Sparrentak is Lyon Township's Fire Chief.  Chief Van Sparrentak may be reached at  248-486-3775 (Fire Station #1).  Chief Van Sparrentak is a full-time fire chief, and is available Tuesday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

The Lyon Township Fire Department consists of paid on-call firefighters/emergency medical technicians, Deputy Fire Chief Doug Berry,  Fire Marshal Brian Holzheimer,  and an Administrative Assistant.  The fire department is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  The firefighters respond to a wide variety of calls including fires, medical assistance, and automobile accidents.

The Lyon Township Fire Department has two stations serving the community.  Both stations are staffed from the hours of 7:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.   Station 2 is also staffed throughout the night, from 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.   Staffing includes 30 on-call firefighters/emergency medical technicians and four full-time employees. The Lyon Township Fire Department is a basic transport department, responding to 1518 runs in 2018.
