Demolition Permit Requirements

To help us serve you better, you are now able to fill out permit applications online and print them off to submit to the Building Department.

Please note that you cannot submit these applications via email; only hard copies are accepted.

Please allow three (3) weeks for processing of building permits.

The following items are required to obtain a building permit.

New Single-Family Homes

  • Permit application
  • Two (2) sets of construction plans (11" x 17")
  • Two (2) plot plans (no larger than 11" x 17")
  • Michigan Energy Code requirements
  • Soil Erosion Permit from Oakland County Drain Commission (248-858-0958)
  • Driveway Permit from Oakland County Road Commission (248-858-4891), if located on a public road
  • Sewer/Water connection fees paid -OR-
  • Septic and Well permits from Oakland County Health Department (248-858-1280)


Additions, Alterations, Accessory Buildings, etc.

  • Permit application
  • Two (2) sets of construction plans (11" x 17")
  • Two (2) plot plans (showing location of well and septic) (no larger than 11" x 17")
  • Michigan Energy Code requirements (when applicable)

Decks

  • Permit application
  • Deck form
  • Two (2) sets of construction plans (11" x 17")
  • Two (2) plot plans (showing location of well and septic) (no larger than 11" x 17")

Commercial Building

  • Permit application
  • Two (2) sets of construction plans (every page architecturally sealed, energy calculations included)
  • One (1) electronic copy of construction plans
  • Two (2) plot plans 
          NOTES

  • All Planning and Engineering approvals must be completed.
  • All required Planning and Engineering fees must be paid, including REUs.
  • Final Pre-Con must be completed and approved
  • Any deviation from the above items must be approved by Planning, Engineering, and Building Official.
