Oakland County Water Testing
Starting January 1, 2012, the Oakland County Health Division (OCHD) will no longer be offering free water testing. The new fees are as follows:
- Chemical Test - $5
- Bacteriological Test - $6
This includes all drinking water, private swimming pools, and surface water samples tested at OCHD labs. Public swimming pools with an issued OCHD/state pool ID are not required to pay.
Water testing bottles will no longer be available at Lyon Township. You must obtain bottles from OCHD offices located in either Pontiac or Southfield.

Water samples can still be returned to Lyon Township for pickup by Oakland County. Samples should be returned to the Township Hall before 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday mornings. For proper results, the freshest sample possible must be provided.
If you have any problems with these changes, we ask that you call the Oakland County Health Department at 248-858-1312. Lyon Township has no control over how the water testing is handled. |
