   Why Lyon Township

Lyon Township is strategically located between 2 major freeways, US-23 and I-275, and it is intersected by I-96. It is 10 minutes from Rock Financial Showplace and 15 minutes from General Motors proving ground. It is a rapidly growing community while maintaining the rural character and charm.   We have one of the lowest tax rates in Oakland County yet offer a broad choice in housing in all price categories.

We are served by the award winning South Lyon public school district and are less than 10 minutes from the new Catholic Central high school. We are less than 20 miles from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor, Eastern Michigan University, a campus of Wayne State University, Walsh Business College and Oakland Community College.

All-season recreation is bountiful. We have 6 golf courses. Kensington Metro-Park and Island Lake Recreation Area are partially within the township and are connected to our vast bike/walking trail system that runs throughout the township and connects to surrounding communities. We are 15 minutes from Mt. Brighton ski area. In addition to Kent Lake, we have several all-sports lakes within minutes of Lyon. The township has its own 170 acre park located adjacent to the Township Hall and another 65 acre park area, as yet undeveloped.

Excellent shopping is less than 20 minutes away at Twelve Oaks Mall, Fountain Walk, West Oaks, Novi Town Center, Green Oaks mall and Costco. Within the township, we have a Super Wal-Mart and a Lowe’s, with many more stores to come.

Comfortable neighborhood restaurants, fast food, and fine dining are all nearby.

We have a Downtown Development Authority and are in the preliminary stages of creating a “downtown” in what is known as our New Hudson area. There are many development opportunities here.

We have one of the largest contiguous land parcels in Oakland County (580 acres) available for development. Municipal water and sewer are available.

Among our industrial residents are Kawasaki Robotics, Sloan Valve Co, US Foods, Nailco, Keebler Cookie Co., Pratt and Miller Inc. and Precision Spring.
