Anyone interested in paying their taxes before the end of the year may do so at the Treasurer's Office on any of the remaining days the office is open (Monday, December 21 - Wednesday, December 23 and Monday, December 28 - Wednesday, December 30). If you are unable to come in during normal business hours, you may drop off your payment in the locked drop box located on the circular drive in front of the building. The drop box is checked daily when the office is open. Any tax payments that are in the drop box when we open on Monday, January 4th will be considered paid in 2009.
The last day to pay winter 2009 taxes without penalty is February 14, 2010.
2010 Census Information
Forms for the 2010 Census will be delivered or mailed to households in March of 2010. One of the shortest census forms in history, the form asks 10 questions and takes about 10 minutes to complete. Census Day is April 1, 2010, so all responses on the form should represent the household as it exists on that day. Any household not returning a form will be visited by a census worker so that a count may be taken in person.
Why is participating in the census so important? Every person undercounted in Michigan will cost $1,000 in lost funding for schools, housing, roads, childcare centers, shopping centers, and more. A complete and accurate count is critical.
