 November 3rd Election Information

 

A school board election will be held on Tuesday, November 3rd.  Polls will be open from 7:00a to 8:00p.  The Clerk's Office will be open on Saturday, October 31st from 9:00a to 2:00p.  That day will be your last chance to take home an absentee ballot.  If you have any questions, please view our Voter Information page or call the Clerk's Office at 248-437-2240.

                                                                         

  

 Fire Department Open House Scheduled for October 25th 

 

The Lyon Township Fire Department is hosting an open house on Sunday, October 25th from 1:00p to 4:00p at Fire Station #1, located at 58800 Grand River Avenue in New Hudson.   There will be a smoke house, station tours, vehicle extrication, junior firefighter games, refreshments, and more.  This event will also kick off the new Vial of Life program. Residents of all ages are encouraged to attend this day of fun and education. 

 

 

 Local Film Festival Now Accepting Entries

 

The 1st Annual 3 Minutes of Lyon Film Festival will be held in May of 2010.  Anybody who is not a professional filmmaker and does not earn a living working as a professional in television or film is eligible to enter, regardless of residency.  However, content within the film must be shot or created within Lyon Township, South Lyon, Kensington Metropark, or Island Lake Recreation Area.  The entry deadline is May 10th, 2010.

 Library Offering Free Computer Classes

 

The Lyon Township Public Library is offering free computer classes to residents.  Registration is required, and class size is limited.  Please register at the library's circulation desk or call 248-437-8800.  Information on classes being offered can be found here.

 

 

 Shake Your Mailbox Day Scheduled for October 24th

 

Once it starts snowing, mailboxes run the risk of being damaged by plows.  Therefore, it is important to make sure that your mailbox is as strong and sturdy as possible.  The Road Commission for Oakland County, in conjunction with the County Road Assocation of Michigan and the U.S. Postal Service, is encouraging residents to participate in the 1st statewide Shake Your Mailbox Day on October 24th.  The purpose of this is to make mailbox posts are steady and that the hardware holding the box is in good shape.  If you notice any problems with your mailbox, you should try to fix it as soon as possible.
