 Crosswalks Being Constructed at Roundabout

 

Construction for crosswalks at the roundabout located at Grand River Avenue and Lyon Center Drive began on May 26th.  The crosswalks will meet the standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act and will be made of colored concrete to warn traffic of the pedestrian crossing areas.  Construction is anticipated to end on June 19th.  Here is the complete schedule:

 

 

   5/26:  Construction signage goes up for Stage I

 

   5/27:  Pavement removals - Stage I

 

   5/28 - 5/29:  Place concrete - Stage I

 

   5/30 - 6/7:  Concrete cure time - Stage I

 

   6/8:  Shift traffic for Stage II

 

   6/9:  Pavement removals - Stage II

 

   6/10:  Place concrete - Stage II

 

   6/11 - 6/18:  Concrete cure time - Stage II

 

   6/19:  Remove signage and open roundabout to full traffic

 

 

Stage I includes half of Grand River and both legs of Lyon Center Drive.

 

Stage II includes the other half of Grand River.

 

 

During construction, traffic will be maintained in both directions along Grand River.  Lyon Center Drive will be closed.  If there are any changes to the schedule, we will update the schedule on the Township's home page.

 

 

 Movies in the Park Returning This Summer

 

After a successful run last summer, the Movies in the Park series is returning to James F. Atchison Memorial Park.  A free movie will be shown every other Saturday, starting June 13th.  Feel free to bring blankets, chairs, bug spray, snacks, and non-alcoholic beverages.  A concession stand will also be open for food and drink purchases.  The movie choices have yet to be announced.  Keep an eye on http://www.lyontwp.org/movies for more details.

 

 

 Dog License Deadline Approaching

 

Monday, June 1st is the final day to buy an Oakland County dog license before they are considered delinquent.  All dogs over the age of four months are required to have a license.  Dog licenses can be purchased through the Treasurer's Office at the Lyon Township Municipal Center during normal business hours.  You must provide proof of current rabies vaccination.  Also be advised that the Township cannot accept credit cards, so please be prepared to pay by check or with cash.

 

Dog License Rates Through June 1st

 

Spayed or neutered: $7.50

Not spayed or neutered: $15.00

Senior rate - spayed or neutered: $6.75

Senior rate - not spayed or neutered: $13.50

 

Starting June 2nd, the cost of a dog license is $30.00.
